One of the greatest to ever play the tight end position, Jason Witten decided the time was right to hang up the cleats and ride into the sunset. He leaves football with the fourth most catches in NFL history, for one of the most storied franchises in all of sports. ZE has always admired Witten’s work ethic and performance on Sundays and made it a goal of his to play the same physical style of football. Even though they were considered rivals, the mutual respect each garnered for each other was remarkable to say the least. The Eagles were supposed to hate the Cowboys.
As a football fan, you cannot help but tip your cap to one of the greatest players of a generation filled with phenomenal talent. Who do the Cowboys rely on on third downs in tight situations with Witten gone? Football will not be the same.
The respect across the league doesn’t go unnoticed and Ertz made it clear he wanted to show appreciation to his role model.
