The Philadelphia Eagles held their second open practice of training camp on Sunday and for a brief moment, another injury scare threatened the excitement around their season.
But just a few plays after going out with what looked to be a leg injury, Zach Ertz returned to the field and continued to shine. In fact, Zach was one of the stars of the session, continuing to build chemistry with franchise quarterback Carson Wentz as USA Today Turron Davenport reported from Eagles camp:
“Ertz was very active in 7 on 7 and team periods. He caught multiple passes from Wentz in the middle of the field and along the boundary. A lot of his catches came on crossing routes today. Ertz made a beautiful catch along the sideline on a back shoulder throw. He turned for the ball and jumped up to grab it with linebacker Nate Gerry in coverage.”
Zach has been one of the standouts at Eagles camp, causing fans to hold their breath when he was slow to get up, walked off gingerly and went straight to the training table on Sunday. But his return to the field and subsequent action should put minds at ease that No. 86 will continue to be a big piece of the Philly offense as camp marches on toward a big season in the City of Brotherly Love.
